AHS-IB PARENT AND STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
Dear IB staff,
Last night I had a real conversation about the philosophy of education with my daughter since she was finishing her “Think Piece” on the subject. What a thrill it was to begin exploring ideas about how to improve our educational system and see the excitement in her face as she worked out some broad stokes on methodology (she loves the Socratic Method), scope (she loves a world view that encompasses all cultures) and freedom as it relates to the knowingness of using her creativity to tie ideas together that might seem disparate to some but are enlightening to someone else. How cool is that?
It has only been a couple of months but the changes in my daughter are huge. I love this program, I love the teachers, I love the students, I love the parents. We are so lucky to have this program available for our children because after these two years, they will be prepared to dive into any college of their choice and not flounder around figuring out why college is different or why it is so hard. They will just know what to do. For many of us, a college was the first place that taught us how to think, taught us that the search for knowledge was actually really fun. The IB kids have the incredible opportunity to learn that now and to understand that their biggest competition is themselves. Bravo IB’ers.
Sincerely,

What IB means to me….
I am only a sophomore, but from what I have experienced with Pre-IB math, I’m truly looking forward to taking all the IB classes next year! My math class has been the most challenging math course I have ever taken. It’s
honestly a ton of work, but it gives me an understanding of the concepts in a way I’ve never had before. The course makes me think more than usual, but I enjoy it because I’m always challenged in the work – especially since math has never been one of my strongest subjects. Yeah IB.

Hello, just a bit of early feedback,
My son David has talked with us a lot about the IB program. During the summer David was excited about the possibilities of this new program, but he was also wondering if it would be truly different than high school as he knew it. Well, just a couple of weeks into the year, David is enjoying school. He really appreciates the fact that class is not all note and memorization, but rather lots of open discussion and intellectual participation.
So even though this is early in the year to make conclusions, it would seem that the students who signed up for the IB program are going to be a part of an educational approach that can potentially have a big impact on their lives. If this can make high school interesting to kids, rather than drudgery, then the IB program will be something pretty amazing.
Best regards,
